Why I Picked This Book
I always enjoy reading historical nonfiction books. It’s a terrific way to gain insight into the local area including the people who lived there, what life was like at the time, and then super-impose that knowledge onto my own experience.
What I Enjoyed About This Book
It amused me to discover the locals witnessed the attack in a manner that reminds me of the folks witnessing the Battle of Gettysburg. It was also a terrific way to learn about how the cape got started with their legendary lifesavers, volunteer surfmen who ventured out onto the treacherous shoals lying off the coast in the harsh Atlantic retrieving shipwreck victims.
