Why I Picked This Book
I always enjoy reading historical nonfiction books.
It’s a terrific way to gain insight into the local area including the people who lived there, what life was like at the time, and then super-impose that knowledge onto my own experience.
In this case, my experience is limited to three years of living and 15 years of visiting the cape. I always tell folks that “it’s another world when you cross the Bourne (or the Sagamore) Bridge onto the cape.” And to add the little tidbits often found in books like these only enhances the experience.
What I Enjoyed About This Book
Right away, the author introduced herself and explained her experience working for the Cape Cod Times gave her access to additional unpublished records. Before I made it halfway through the book, I could tell that the book will change the way I look at “life on the cape”.
