How does someone describe an image of someone’s face?
This is the question I asked myself when I explored different images. With over 7 billion people on the planet, that’s over 7 billion descriptions. Now, throw creativity into the mix with photography and you have an asinine number of images to work with.
I decided to look for a black and white image to begin with. By removing color, I noticed it was a little bit easier but not by that much. I suspect this image is a description I will be revising over time as the words come to me.
Image Description of a Woman With A Nose Ring
We are looking at a square photo of a young lady looking directly at us. The image has been reformatted into a 1:1 ratio with the lady’s face taking up roughly 80 percent of the space as if she was mere inches away from us.
Using the rule of thirds, we can only see part of her head starting from the chin at the bottom-third to the crown at the top-third. Her eyes taks up the middle-third and is looking directly at us on an even level.
The young lady is wearing a fabric covering her head like a hood. It is not clear if the fabric is a clothing or something draped over her head.
The only accessory the lady is wearing is a circular barbell nose ring that pierces her septum. It is this nose ring that stands out with it’s polished surface.
A faint, soft glow from a light source somewhere below and outside the image between us and the lady is reflected in her eyes. The glow highlights parts of her face and outlines the fabric draped over her.
She seems to convey an expression that is positive with a smile. It is difficult to determine if her expression is one of happiness or of being mischievous.
End of image description.
